“Faith is what helps hope float!”
In my life, faith has been the life vest, or surface on which my hope floats. I have experienced some difficult trials in my life, causing my back to be against the wall. With no way out, all I had was a faith that God is good. And this faith sustained my hope in the rocky and rough waters of life.
I visualize hope as a tealight candle poised on a leaf, my faith. In the turbulent oceans waters, faith simply keeps hope afloat!
When our hope sinks, depression, self destructive behavior, and suicidal thoughts are sure to follow. That’s because HOPE is our life-source. When we release ourselves from the hope of anything getting better, life becomes dim and bleak. But, faith sustains our hope and allows us to remain hopeful about a better and brighter future.
As a clinical psychologist, I have worked with countless clients who were helpless. Despite fervent efforts to encourage hopeless people, often times they are unmoved, because they have bought into the lie of the enemy, which tells them: “This is the way your life will always be, nothing will ever change!”
When your back is against the wall and you have no way to bring a positive change into your own life, you have two options:
Believe that God is in control and will work things out for your good.
Doubt God, His promises, His love, and His power.
I implore you to BELIEVE… because your faith will help your hope float!
Armed with an unwavering belief, you will maintain hope for a change – you will begin to rehearse an expectation for something better – and you will wait expectantly for a breakthrough!
I have learned that the challenge of keeping my hope afloat by maintaining a faith is sometimes a fight and other times an all-out-brawl!
It is challenging to maintain your faith and even still grow our faith, when life has you pinned between a crisis and a dilemma!
Nevertheless, in the rough waters of life, we must intentionally grow our faith, that it might sustain our hope.
Do you want to know how to intentionally grow your faith, so that your hope can float?
I developed a reflective journal to help you grow your faith in God.
Here’s how “The 14-Day Passport to New Destinations in your Faith” journal will increase your faith:
- It creates a period of intentional remembering – you will gather the stones of remembrance from the mighty blessings that God has done for you in your past
- It creates a dialogue with God to share your feelings about the challenges your are experiencing in trusting Him
- It encourages a period of fasting and prayer to more intimately connect to God and hear His voice
- It uses your own journal entries to create personalized prayers to God with thanksgiving and supplication
- It encourages you to search the Bible for a scriptural promise – to remind yourself of God’s faithfulness, goodness, power and His love for you.
